The Stranger Things in a Strange World
Stranger Things expresses a theology. Here's my take on what it is.
Greetings, my friend.
A few things for you this week: an article, an ebook sale, and some exciting news.
First, I have a new article on Westminster Magazine called “A Theology of Stranger Things.” If you haven’t seen the series yourself, you likely know someone who has. It just became the second Netflix series in history to pass 1 billion viewing hours. That means the show is obviously drawing people to itself. Why?
I unpack some of that in this article. I believe everyone has a theology (even atheists). Here’s my take on what sorts of theological ideas are expressed in the series and how they compare or contrast with biblical theology.
Ebook Sale
Finding Hope in Hard Things has been moving a lot of people lately. They seem to appreciate the openness and raw expression of emotion and hope. So I’m putting the book on sale for a limited time. You can download it for $3.99 now. Here are some comments from recent readers that I found very encouraging and might peak your interest. Check it out!
“I don’t know that I can hope for hard things yet but there was a lot of comfort in this little book. Life is hard and suffering is hard. Overall so helpful and hopeful and kind. It makes much of Jesus.”
“The author is a modern day C.S Lewis! The book was a Godsend to me in the midst of my suffering. One of the best books on suffering in our generation, desperately needed especially in the times that we are in.”
“I usually don't leave too many reviews. However, I have to say that you totally changed my perspective on hardship and how necessary it is in drawing us closer to God.”
Exciting News
I just started writing my next book after a period of research and reading. The tentative title is See the Light in Them: Viewing Everyone in Your Life through the Eyes of Jesus. I LOVE how it’s coming out so far. God is being gracious (what else would I expect?) in giving me words. Can’t wait to share it with you one day soon!!
That’s all for now. If you want to reach out to me with a prayer request or just to say hello, you can email me at wordsfrompth@gmail.com. God bless you!
